It was as if she had gone deaf. All the noise from outside did not penetrate her apartment. She went on casually about her daily routine. The bombing, the riots, the scavengers on the streets, nothing reached her. As if oblivious to all that. She did not bother to vacate her apartment like everyone in the area who had gone hiding, looking for a safer place. She did not want to leave. This seemed to be a new beginning than an end. She stepped in the shower, aware the moment was nearing. She cared a damn. What happened that was all hazy. She could hear them coming, knocking down the door, hunting her down and trying to rip her heart off.
